Following correspondence from a resident and subsequent inspection by an arboriculture expert, it has been agreed that urgent works be carried out on an oak tree adjacent to the path marked on the below map. The large tree is showing signs of movement and instability, therefore poses a significant risk. If possible, the tree will not be fully removed, but instead will be pollarded. This course of action not only mitigates the risk, but also preserves the tree and it’s environmental benefits.
The path will therefore be closed off between 9:00 and 17:00 on both Thursday 20th March and Friday 21st March whilst these works are carried out.

Additional information: the tree is on Crown Estates land. Neither Crown Estates, nor Somerset Council maintain this land, therefore it falls to the Parish Council to seek expert advice and decide on the best course of action. In this case, due to the significant safety risks, the Parish Council has decided to act and follow the expert advice received.
