Cotford St Luke Parish Council is seeking to appoint a new Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer.
Part-time – 12 hours per week – home-based
Salary dependent on experience and qualifications
This is an excellent opportunity to help the Council deliver effective services to the local community.
The Clerk will be key to ensuring that all legal, statutory, financial and other governance provisions relating to the Council are observed, all Council meetings are properly administered, and decisions effectively implemented. Attendance will be required at Council meetings currently held monthly in the evening.
Attendance at occasional other meetings may also be required.
The Clerk will handle correspondence, be the contact (email, post and telephone) for all Parish Council matters and as RFO will also be responsible for all aspects of the financial administration of the Council. The Clerk will also assist with administering the Council website.
Previous experience and appropriate qualifications are preferable though training will be available. Ideally, applicants should be CiLCA qualified or be willing to achieve this within the first year of employment. Candidates are expected to be IT-literate, with specific competence in common desktop applications including email, Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as having sound administrative, communication and organisational skills.
On the finance side, candidates should ideally have a knowledge of Scribe Accounts, administering VAT returns, internet banking and the ability to prepare budgets and the end of year accounts. There will be a comprehensive induction into the role with support from another, experienced clerk and serving councillors.
The Council offers nationally agreed terms and conditions of employment. A laptop and mobile phone will be provided.
