CARRIAGEWAY RESURFACING WORK – DENE ROAD & DENE ROAD SOUTH
ROUNDABOUT, COTFORD ST LUKE
I am writing to inform you of planned resurfacing work on Dene Road & Dene Road South Roundabout, Cotford St Luke.
Somerset Council, as the Highway Authority, have a statutory duty under S41 of the Highways Act 1980 to repair and maintain the highway. The condition of the existing road surface is such that repairs are now required.
Due to the width of the road and for the safety of the workforce it will be necessary to close the road to all vehicular through traffic during the works. An alternative route will be signed. The works will commence on Tue 16/06/2026 for 13 Days (18.30 – 07.30), excluding the weekends. Any change to the start date or duration of works will be indicated on the advisory signs located on site.
Due to the nature of this road, works outside of residential properties will have noisy operations limited to 18.30-23.30.
The process involves removal of the old surface followed by the laying of new material by machine.
During these operations it will be difficult or impossible for vehicles accessing properties to pass the works teams and machinery.
During the works, we would request that no vehicles are parked on the road. The contractor will maintain pedestrian access for residents for the duration of the works but depending on the operation and location of works, there will be times when vehicular access to or from your property may be temporarily restricted or delayed. In particular for residents of Nichol Place cul de sac. If these residents require use of their vehicles during working hours it would be helpful if these could be parked in an adjacent area temporarily.
There may be periods when it will be necessary for traffic to run upon a temporary surface. Should you require access at a specific time, please speak to the staff on site in advance who will be able to advise you of the planned restrictions for that day.
We will endeavour to complete the works as quickly as possible and to achieve this we thank you for your co-operation and understanding. If you require any further information prior to the works taking place, please visit Travelsomerset.co.uk or contact our Customer Contact Centre on 0300 123 2224.
Thank you in advance for your patience and helping us to maintain social distancing whilst we complete this work.
Yours faithfully
