Bishops Lydeard & Cothelstone Parish Council Notes (includes Cotford St Luke)
Local Police Beat Manager, PC Andy Davies, gave a presentation
on the
Partners and Communities Together (PACT) initiative. A number of issues
were raised including Anti Social Behaviour/underage drinking and traffic
speeding, which were common to both Bishops Lydeard and Cotford St
Luke. It was agreed that the Police be asked to concentrate over the next
three months on Anti Social Behaviour/underage drinking and they will report
back at each of the next three main (2nd Wed) Parish Council meetings.
Following the Parish Council’s objection to the removal of the telephone
Box at Mount Street, it has been confirmed that this will now remain. Concern
was expressed regarding the unsatisfactory location and limited access
of the bus stop in Hither Mead adjacent to the stream. Consideration
will be given to relocating this to a better position close by.
The Clerk reported that Taunton Deane Borough Council (TDBC) had been
unable to resolve the matter of ownership of the unadopted road in Quantock
View. It was suggested that the residents check the wording in their deeds
and then take this up direct with the TDBC Housing Estates Officer.
Cllr Peter Grover, through a written submission, advised that there were continuing
delays with the finalisation of the Cotford St Luke Community Hall
Lease with TDBC. The Parish Council agreed to write to TDBC to request
that this matter be finalised as soon as possible.
It was agreed to accept the quotes for the refurbishment of benches at Glanfield
Close and Hithermead, and this work will now go ahead.
The draft information notice for the Fives Wall at the Lethbridge Arms, produced
by Cllr Anne Pattemore, was discussed and it was agreed to obtain
quotes for producing a full size notice and accompanying leaflets.
A request has been received from Taunton Citizens Advice Bureau for assistance
towards their funding. The Parish Council have supported this worthy charity
on an annual basis and it was agreed to grant the increased amount of £200
for this year.
TDBC are running a series of two meetings as a consultation on the Local
Development Framework and the Chair and Vice-Chair will attend as representatives
of the Parish Council.
Mr Michael Redston, who lives in Cotford St Luke, has volunteered to act as
Tree Warden for the village and his appointment was confirmed.
