January 2012 Edition
COTFORD ST LUKE PARISH COUNCIL
ANNUAL PARISH MEETING
THERE WILL BE AN ANNUAL PARISH MEETING IN THE COMMUNITY CENTRE ON
THURSDAY 8 MARCH 2012 AT 7.30PM
THE PUBLIC AND PRESS ARE CORDIALLY INVITED TO ATTEND
Christmas 2011 Edition
Thank You
Thank you to all those who took part in the litter pick; it was a great success. The next litter pick will be in April 2012. Also; thank you to those villagers who have volunteered to spread grit/salt during severe winter weather. Bags of grit/salt have now been distributed to them.
Polite Request
It would be greatly appreciated; if drivers who park their cars opposite or within 10 metres (32 feet) of a road junction, close to traffic calming narrowings or on pavements, would consider others before doing so. Inconsiderate parking makes it difficult for other drivers and emergency vehicles driving though the village; and inconvenient for pedestrians, people in wheelchairs or with visual impairment, and those with prams or pushchairs to walk safely along the pavements.
Speedwatch
Four volunteers had great fun learning to use a speed gun during their recent Speedwatch training evening. If you would like to become a Speedwatch volunteer; then please contact Barbara Stone (432084) or Caroline Roche (430876). Since the training; two younger members of our village have come forward to assist with Speedwatch. If there are other younger members (over 18 years of age) of our village who want to get involved in Speedwatch; then please contact Barbara Stone (432084).
Local Businesses/Contingencies Day on 25 February 2012 at the Community Centre
Own your own business in Cotford; would you like to meet the villagers? We are planning a local businesses/contingencies day. It will be a daylong event to give villagers a chance meet Cotford businesses; to speak to all our environmental/emergency services, Parish Councillors and Hall Management Committee. Tables are limited and will be on a first come basis; so please book early by contacting Barbara Stone (432084) or Caroline Roche (430876).
Christmas and New Year Household Recycling and Refuse Collection Day Changes
Instead of the normal Thursday collection; Somerset Waste Partnership will be collecting household recycling and refuse over the Christmas/New Year period on Friday 30 December 2011 and Friday 6 January 2012.
Garden waste collections are suspended from Monday 26 December 2011 and will start again on Monday 9 January 2012. Please consult Somerset Waste Partnership’s website for natural Christmas tree disposal arrangements.
